When I finish mandalas, I like to encircle them in affirmations that arise for me while creating them. This one says:
“Love is at the center of all creation.
Love is your true nature.
Trust the wisdom of your heart.”
I drew it a few months ago.
As I was flipping through my sketchbook recently,
its message is the one my heart needed most.
I thought I’d share it for anyone else who might need it, too.
I find myself struggling at times with the demands of outdated societal norms.
Honestly, I have never quite felt safe or relaxed in our society.
It often demands a fast pace when I need stillness, it is often harsh when I need gentleness, and it seems to devalue the things that are important to me like music and art.
I spend a lot of time unraveling these learned societal
patterns that are incongruent with my true nature.
I often need a lot of time by myself to navigate this. Perhaps you are that way, too.
If you happen to read this, I hope you choose to appreciate yourself and honor the beautiful being that you are.
Remember that self-care is important.
When you care for yourself, you shine more brightly and give with a more joyful heart.
We need a world that is filled with people who love and respect themselves…
and who let that love and respect overflow into the world.
